Who is this Assessor Unit 1 for?
This NVQ Assessor course is suitable for those who currently do not work as an Assessor but would like to gain knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment. It is the knowledge-based unit of the Level 3 Assessor Courses – part of our robust Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance (TAQA) portfolio.

What if I am not currently assessing learners?
You do not need access to any learners for this unit, in fact, it is a great opportunity for CPD for trainers and teachers to expand their knowledge of assessment. If you don't currently have access to learners, this is ideal for you to get into assessment in beauty, construction, fitness and many more.
Under the new legislation, private security SIA trainers now need at least this unit in order to assess the Physical Intervention, Conflict Management and CCTV modules.
How long will the Assessor Unit take to complete?
The course is 100% online with full tutor support. We allow 3 months but most people can finish in a few days since is theory only, and no practical evidence is required. As it is self-paced you can complete it as quickly as you like!

Course Duration: 3 months
This course is part of the Level 3 TAQA suite and is an NVQ qualification. It's a knowledge unit only, so there is no requirement for prior or current Assessor experience. In fact doing this assessor theory unit can boost your job prospects if you want to prove to a potential employer that you have knowledge of Assessment in the FE sector.
This is 'half' the Assessor course and once you have access to learners you can come back and do the practical unit(s).
If you want to assess learners in their workplace you will need the work-based Competence Assessor course.
If you assess your learners in a classroom / simulated environment then you need the Classroom Assessor course.
If you assess your learners both 'on the job' and in a classroom setting then you need the Lead Assessor CAVA certificate.

This course is available for all candidates who fulfil the following criteria:
Age range: 19+
Core skills: There are no formal entry requirements for this training course however candidate must have reading and writing skills in order to complete the course
Access to Internet using a laptop / pc / tablet using up to date Windows, Android or Apple operating systems.
