Classroom Skills Assessor Course Duration: 6 months
This online Classroom Assessor qualification allows you to assess in the classroom only. We will conduct a detailed personalised 1:1 initial assessment/interview with you before you begin your Level 3 Assessor course.
If you don't assess learners currently, then you should do the assessor theory only unit - L3 Award in Understanding Principles and Practices of Assessment.
If you assess your learners in the workplace only then you should choose the L3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment.
If you assess learners in the workplace AND in the classroom then please go for the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA).
L3 Assessing Vocational Skills Course Requirements
This course is available for all candidates who fulfil the following criteria set by the Awarding Organisations:
Age range: 19+
Core skills: There are no formal entry requirements for this training course however candidate must have reading and writing skills in order to complete the course
Access to Internet using a laptop / pc / tablet using up to date Windows, Android or Apple operating systems.
Access to two learners who you can assess in the classroom.

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Assessed by short theory assignments x 7
Assignments can be presented in various formats, including written discussion, tables, graphics, screenshots or examples of work-based evidence.
Work documents can be used instead of theory assignments e.g. assessment reports, policies, procedures, assessment records etc
Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Work documents including:
2 x initial assessment paperwork, 4 x assessment plans using a different assessment method each, assessment records.
Wherever possible we will work with you to fulfil the assessment criteria using your existing work evidence.

Your learners must be on a regulated course or formal qualification because you will have to evidence assessment criteria and internal / external quality assurance requirements based on which you make your assessment decisions.
Both learners need to be 16+ years of age for the Assessor course.
You can work part-time or voluntary in a local college. You can also do the theory unit now and add the practical unit later.
The assessor course is for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in a classroom or work environment so may not be fully relevant. However, if you need to apply this in a school setting then this Classroom Assessor course is the best choice.
Yes, the CAVA is ideal to qualify as a childcare Assessor and can be done alongside with your current role assessing apprentices. However, if you assess only apprentices and not learners on the childcare NVQ qualifications, then you might want to do the End Point Assessor course.
