External Verifier Course Overview

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is a natural progression for you if you are a qualified and experienced Internal Verifier and looking to expand your career options. You can find out more about how to become an Internal Verifier or IQA here.

This course is suitable for those already working with an Awarding Body or similar organisation as a Standards Verifier or EQA. You should have access to centres who you can support and conduct external verification for.

If you do not have access to work as an external verifier then it's best to opt for the external verifier unit 1 only. This is a theory-based course and requires no practical evidence.

Can I use any prior learning (RPL)?

We offer RPL and exemptions wherever possible so do get in touch if you feel you have done any of these units as part of another qualification like the L4 Certificate or L5 Diploma in E&T. It's also suitable if you have an older version of this qualification and need to upgrade.

However please note there are no direct exemptions from the old D35 or V2 courses to this new EQA course.

What if I already have Unit 1 of the EQA qualification?

You can opt to take only the practical unit 2 if you have already done the EQA unit 1. with us or with any other NVQ provider. To do this please email us on info@eln.co.uk straight away and we can give you a special discount.

If you’re planning on becoming an External Verifier, but are also involved in teaching, we recommend studying the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. This leads to the QTLS which is a huge achievement in Education and Training and FE sector. It is also a testament to your professionalism and experience.

How long will it take to complete the EQA course and how is it delivered?

The course is delivered 100% online and you submit all evidence online as well. The observations can be done via video recording or we can approve a suitably qualified colleague to observe you in-house on our behalf. See assessment requirements and pre-requirements below.

We offer 6 months to complete this course however, most of our students complete this course in a few weeks if they have the required centre visits lined up. Since it is self-paced you can enrol and complete the course as quickly as you like.

Do I have to work for a UK awarding body to do this online EQA course?

Not at all, any regulated awarding body can be accepted. We regularly get external verifiers and standards verifiers from various countries, especially around the Middle East for example, from NIVE, KHDA, ADVETI etc. Our Pearson External Quality Assurance course is globally recognised.

External Verifier / Standards Verifier Course FAQs

Yes, although we recommend that you have IQA experience since the assignments require a thorough understanding of internal and external standards verification. You will need to work as an external verifier once you enrol onto this course. If you cannot do this, consider the EQA theory only course.

Yes it is an NVQ qualification awarded by Pearson Edexcel and it is recognised in the UK and around the globe.

No, once it is a registered awarding body and regulates qualifications in their region, sector or country then we can accept your work experience with them as evidence for the EQA course.

Yes, absolutely, in fact we train IQA’s and EQA’s who work in these organisations in the UAE and many other countries in the Middle East and Asia.

At the moment unfortunately, the organisations we had partnerships with cannot facilitate placements anymore so we are not offering them for any course. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Yes you can. The IQA course is not a pre-requirement for the EQA course although we strongly recommend it. You may choose to do the theory unit for the IQA first though as it will give you a perspective on the Internal Verification process before you start thinking about external verification. Click here for more details.

No you do not need to be qualified or experienced as an Assessor to do this course although of course it would help. We do recommend you spend at least 2-3 years as an internal verifier before doing this course as it will help you understand the full breadth of the Educational Quality Assurance cycle.

Unfortunately, we are not currently offering the full Lead EQA or Lead External Verifier at this time.

All evidence for this qualification must be direct, simulations are not accepted so you must be able to evidence communication with the centre throughout the 'Plan-Do-Review' cycle.
