Level 4 IQA Course Overview

Who is this IQA course suitable for?

This is the IQA qualification which you need to do if you want to become an IQA or internal verifier. This course was previously known as the D34 or V1 course. However, these are now outdated and it is best to get this new L4 IQA qualification to progress your assessor moderator career.

This course is also part of the TAQA (Teaching, Assessment and Quality Assurance) courses. If you are looking for the Level 3 TAQA Assessor course please click here.

This Level 4 IQA training is suitable to internally verify any NVQ, RQF, Functional Skills or other regulated qualifications like apprenticeships as well.

By doing this online NVQ Verifier course you can internally verify the work of assessors who teach and assess students in your subject specialism. This includes a range of sectors, for example, you can become an internal verifier for beauty, health and social care, early years, childcare, health and safety, private security, construction, apprenticeships, hospitality etc.

If you do not have any assessors whose work you can verify you can do the IQA theory unit only and then try to get a placement. You can come back and add the unit 2 at a special discount any time.

If you hold a management position and do IQA work but also have overall responsibility for your centre as a Lead Internal Verifier then you should do our Lead IQA course.

Level 4 IQA Course - FAQs

Internal Quality Assurance is what you need to be an internal verifier and to monitor the training staff in your organisation, monitor learning, delivery and assessments happening in your centre as well as legal matters like Data Protection.

The IQA unit 2 qualifies you as an internal verifier who can sample and verify assessor work. The third unit qualifies you as a Lead IQA or Lead Verifier meaning you can lead/manage a team of internal verifiers. As a Lead IQA you would also have responsibility for the centre's overall quality assurance processes and policies.

Yes, this course is a Level 4 NVQ course and will give you the theory knowledge and practical skills to become an IQA. If you do the theory only IQA course then you will get the knowledge part only and you can add the practical IQA unit later. Either way the online IQA qualification applies to pretty much all types of qualifications in the UK from schools, NVQs, BTECs, HNCs or HNDs, all courses in the Further Education (FE) sector, colleges, universities etc

Yes, if you do this IQA qualification, you can then purchase the remaining unit later once you can access a team of other internal verifiers who you can manage. We offer loyalty discounts and interest free easy instalments for returning customers.

You can volunteer or work part-time or freelance to access the work-based requirements. Most of our candidates can find placements in a local college.

Yes, all the courses and units are self-paced and can be combined with the practical units at a later stage at a special discounted price.

There is no difference between the qualification content, delivery or assessment. Both Pearson Edexcel and NOCN operate under Ofqual and offer the same qualification so this is purely a matter of which brand you prefer. Pearson are more widely-recognised but NOCN process the certificates much quicker.

Unfortunately there's no direct RPL from the D-suite of quals to the current IQA course approved by any awarding body. This is because the format of the qualification has changed. However, once you register we can supplement some criteria with a professional discussion. Your tutor will cover the possibilities with you in the initial interview.

Yes, City & Guilds first coined the term TAQA for their Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance courses. Over time the phrase has become more widely used to connotate the NVQ Assessment and Quality Assurance courses in particular.
This particular course consists of unit 1 & 2 of the internal quality assurance course. In order to become a Lead internal verifier you should do all 3 units from the Lead IQA course
