Who is this Understanding IQA course suitable for?
This NVQ Assessor Verifier course is suitable for anyone who is interested to know more about Internal Quality Assurance in their sector. No prior experience is required, but you will need access to your institution's policies and practices for reference. This course is for you if you do not currently work as an IQA but wish to know more about the processes involved.
Your tutor will conduct a detailed personalised 1:1 initial assessment/interview with you before you begin your Level 4 IQA qualification.
Will this course qualify me as an Internal Verifier?
If you wish to become an Internal Verifier or IQA, our Level 4 Award in The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment is better suited to your qualification needs. This IQA Unit 1 only qualification is better for those without work-based access, looking for a theoretical understanding only.
If you wish to become a Lead Verifier in your centre then you should so the Level 4 Certificate in IQA.

This course is the theory unit 1 only from the Internal Quality Assurance courses. If you want to do the internal verifier qualification then you should choose the IQA course (units 1 & 2).
If you lead a team of internal verifiers in your workplace then you should do the full Certificate in Internal Quality Assurance.
IQA Theory Unit Requirements
The Level 4 Award in Understanding Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment are available for all candidates who fulfil the following criteria:
Age range: 19+
Core skills: There are no formal entry requirements for this training course however candidate must have reading and writing skills in order to complete the course

Yes, City & Guilds first coined the term TAQA for their Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance courses. Over time the phrase has become more widely used to connotate the NVQ Assessment and Quality Assurance courses in particular.
This particular course consists of unit 1 of the internal quality assurance course. In order to become a full internal verifier you should do both units 1 and 2 from the IQA course.
Yes, this course is a Level 4 NVQ course and will give you the theory knowledge behind the principles and practices of IQA. If you do the 2-unit IQA course then you will become a fully qualified IQA or internal verifier. Either way the course applies to pretty much all types of qualifications in the UK from schools, NVQs, BTECs, HNCs or HNDs, all courses in the Further Education (FE) sector, colleges, universities etc
Yes, if you do the IQA unit 1, you can then purchase the remaining two unit(s) later as and when it suits you. We offer discounts and interest free instalments for returning customers!
You can volunteer or work part-time or freelance to access the work-based requirements. Most of our candidates can find placements in a local college.
Yes, all the courses and units are self-paced and can be combined with the practical units at a later stage.
There is no difference between the qualification content, delivery or assessment. Both Pearson Edexcel and NOCN operate under Ofqual and offer the same qualification so this is purely a matter of which brand you prefer. Pearson are more widely-recognised but NOCN process the certificates much quicker.
Unfortunately there's no direct RPL from the D-suite of quals to the current IQA course approved by any awarding body. This is because the format of the qualification has changed. However, once you register we can supplement some criteria with a professional discussion. Your tutor will cover the possibilities with you in the initial interview.
