An end point assessor is responsible for assessing apprentices prior to them completing their apprenticeships. This includes apprentices in multiple sectors including healthcare, construction, hospitality, early years or management.
The end point assessor engages with the apprentice over a certain time period and assess the via different methods including but not limited to observation, discussion, portfolios, presentations or interviews. This is why it's essential for the assessor to have previous experience in the relevant sector.
To become an End Point Assessor, you have to meet a few requirements. The first is to have prior occupational experience in the sector you wish to assess apprentices in. Second, and more importantly, you must have completed a Level 3 Assessor Qualification. The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (Units 1 & 3) is ideal in this situation.
Once you have completed your qualification, you can begin to apply for End Point Assessor roles. This is a great career choice if you have gained substantial experience within your sector and especially if you already have teaching/training experience.
